I thought I should share with you some of the challenges I face when writing.

As you know this is my bread and butter and SEO writing pays my bills.

I choose to focus predominantly on fashion, although I occasionally venture out into travel photography.

We all know that fashion is an enormous industry to talk about, and when it comes to writing fashion articles, you want to ensure that you can create vibrant and interesting content for your targeted readers!

When I write for the leading local fashion blogs and advertising agencies for example, I need to ensure that my articles create a buzz.

So I will usually pick a controversial angle or sensational element of the topic to stretch. Nothing like what I do on this blog!

I’ve written for radio consultancy agencies as well, and their content requires a conversational yet factual tone of engagement.

Fashion is different. It needs to sound like you’re telling your best friend about the show you just attended. Depending on the magazine or blog, I can sound girly, chatty or happy.

So, when it comes to writing fashion articles, you want to ensure that you can create vibrant and interesting content for your targeted readers.

My number one job is to create a buzz on the latest fashion apparel and accessories, and get that article to quickly do the rounds in social media! Of course when you’re writing about someone like Rihanna with her sometimes crazy, ‘drop-your-mouth’ outfits, it’s easily achievable.

I wrote an article where I asked what parents would think if their child stepped out at a local birthday party wearing this, just because Rihanna wore it.

Whoa! that article drew  a flurry of 750 comments. Some of them were the ‘it’s none-of-your-business’ type of comments you  usually get when you write. It’s that time when you need to develop a thick skin and simply move on.

But that’s good! When I start to draw reaction and emotion out of something I wrote, I know I am on the right track, and well on my way to becoming an authority in fashion blogging.

You see, whether you’re creating a fashion article for a clothing review, runway event, and even a new up-and-coming designer looking to get some exposure, to make sure you develop the best article possible, there are some steps that should be taken to make your content become attractive to your reading audience.

Human Emotions Are What Creates Trends, And Drives The Fashion Industry!

When we write for fashion spreads or blogs for that matter, we are briefed by fashion designers to sell the vision of how good you would look in their outfit.

It’s predominantly motivated to making you buy their outfit, but that’s not the primary message.

When you read my articles with detailed attention, you notice that I’m trying to hit on your emotions about something we all dream of, and that’s being someone else!

Many will deny this comment if you brought it up in a conversation, but it’s a true fact, that at some point in your life you would like to be someone else, whether it be a Julia Roberts, Rihanna, George Clooney or one of the One Direction band members.Smart fashion conscious writers jump on this emotion very quickly!

Human emotions are what drive product sales, whether it’s selling clothing, or new cars. We know what we need, but sometimes we don’t always know what we want.

I, as a fashion writer, will be utilizing my writing skills and knowledge to capitalize on this human emotion, and tell you why you should buy an unknown designer’s Maternity Fashion, or why you should purchase brand name handbags from XYZ web site that’s available in every shopping mall in America.

Answer All The Readers Questions

When I search for information on the Internet, my goal is to have many questions answered, whether I’m searching for lingerie, or a good pair of women’s boots, maybe a fantastic pair of Christian Louboutin heels, or jeans for my casual nights out on the town.

However, if you tell me the jeans are 100% cotton, they come in many styles and colors, and they’re a really good bargain if I purchase them here online, chances are I would be saying to myself, tell me something I don’t already know, and I already read three other articles saying the same thing.

I would rather read that these incredible one of kind jeans were exclusive to your company or website (if they truly are, no fibbing now), or they’re a new designer’s fashion creation that is taking the clothing industry by storm.

In SEO writing, emotion drives our chemistry, and even though we know what our necessities are, we want to look and feel better, and we want the items to help us achieve this goal! We are drawn to articles like this, because they are peppered with what we call ‘intent’ keywords. Intent keywords are words that are emotional, direct and express a desire for something. words like ‘buy’ ‘where,’ ‘how’ ‘best price’ ‘most affordable’ are all examples of intent keywords.

What I try to do then, is make sure my articles are written with a good number of these intent keywords, answer questions, trigger some emotion, curiosity or controversy that will stimulate reaction via feedback.

That’s when I know I have a fashion article that will be unstoppable on the fashion article runway!
